Patrice O’Neal’s comedy consisted of willingness to tackle controversial topics in a humorous way that captivated audiences. He got his start in Boston performing at Estelle’s in 1992 and continued to perfect his craft throughout the Boston area. He ended up in New York City in 1998, becoming a regular at the Comedy Cellar. He had a brief stint in Los Angeles before testing the international waters. He went on to successfully tour throughout Europe and Australia and performed with comedians such as John Simmit, Lewis Schaffer and Rich Vos. By 2002, he was back in the US and recorded a stand-up special with Showtime Comedy called “Patrice O’Neal Live!” He eventually released his special “Elephant In The Room” in 2011. O’Neal can also be seen on television, making cameos on “Arrested Development” and “The Office.” O’Neal continues to be remembered and celebrated for his fearlessness and bold comedic style.
